#RENOVATEDING BEFORE + AFTER

Last Saturday was a pretty momentous occasion for me, one I’ve been tirelessly planning for the past 9 months!  Project #RenovateDING is (nearly) complete, and am officially all moved in—well, despite my storage unit looking like a hoarder’s paradise…haha! Although I still have a lot of unpacking and decorating to do to make it FEEL like home, it’s already a dream to be living in this house!

In celebration of completing the renovations, and to remind myself of just how far this sweet little South Austin house has come, I wanted to share before + after pictures of the huge transformation. If you’ve been following along, this 1950s ranch style house was originally a little on the small(er) side for a 3 bedroom. During the design phase, I worked with a local architect and contractor to bump out the master bathroom and living room walls to add on an additional 500 square feet, which (although a pretty costly update) ended up being so worth it.

The master bathroom is now, by far, my favorite transformation in the house! It started with yellow and baby blue tile, one sink and a shower/tub combo. After expanding the width of the room by 3 feet, I was able to make room for a double vanity, and a gorgeous walk-in shower. It feels so light and bright in this room now. I almost can’t recognize the before photo!

The most difficult part of this entire project though was staying within the budget and narrowing down the hardware, light fixturesmailboxes and various other design elements. Don’t get me wrong, it was so much fun shopping around for each item, but it was also a very time consuming process—particularly since I was second guessing practically every big decision along the way. I wanted to make sure that every element felt timeless, yet still “me.”

It wasn’t until the kitchen cabinets were being installed, that I was finally able to let go a little and realized that everything was going to turn out like I pictured it. And, in all honesty, it’s actually better than I ever expected! Just take a peek...

As you can see in the photo above, I kept the original turquoise ceramic sink that came with the house, and am so happy that this little vintage fixture feels so modern now against the white shiplap and black + white patterned tile. What’s your favorite transformation in the house? Let me know in the comments below!

It may seem like since the construction is finished, the projects end there… but nope! There are still a lot of “little things” to get checked off my list to get this house feeling “complete.” Next on my list is to pick out several new furniture pieces that fit well in the space. I also have a few D.I.Y. projects in mind, including a laundry room peg board, shelf for the master bath, and an outdoor sofa. So, be sure to stay tuned!
